I would suggest looking for a decent used lift. A lot of times, these can be picked-up for around $200 or less in the off season or end of the season.

If you go this route (used), I would suggest an aluminum cantilever lift. Keep the weight capacity in mind. Inspect the pivot points. If the cable or bunks are bad, no biggie but the price should reflect that they will need replaced. I replaced all 24 pivot bushings on a lift a couple years ago and had about $50 in the bushings--however, they were a standard bushing.

You could make one but due to corrosion and weight, I would only want it in aluminum and that material isn't cheap. Then you have to weld it too.

In the end, it would be hard to beat $200.

    My $.02.

Been looking and have found some used ones for sale, but 5 to 6 hundred bucks apiece. I have 2 machines so I`m looking at $1200 bucks. Like I said, I`m a cheapskate and really dont want to spend that kind of jingle. $200 would definitely be Doable though.

It takes time to find the $200 lifts. Time and you just have to get the word out and be in the right place.

Oh, and take pizza and beer to your buddy that ownes a marina. If you don't already have that buddy, find one and take care of him.

I still wouldn't want to build one.
