I have a 1998 gp1200 and it tart hoping about 35 on! I have been working with it for a long time last year. It only hope on really smooth water or little ruff ripples. I have the back shimmed down 2. It also seems that I have to run with trim in down position I cant run it N . So I have to have the nozzle pointed down.
My setup is only the RD pro limited and rd grate stock everything else.

This would probably do better in the Old School section. A mod may move it for you.
There are different exit nozzles you can get (5 degree or 0 degree) to help the porposing problem. You can also shim the ride plate down more to get it where you need.
Trim Tabs may be the issue as well. 97s and early 98s have a different style hull than the later 98s and 99s. The tabs would be on either side of the hull beside the ride plate, they sit flush against the bottom of the hull. If your hull is supposed to have them, you either have them or they have been ripped off. If you dont have them and cant see any holes where they once were, then you have the later hull version. If you have the early hull, you should replace them with aluminum trim tabs.
