    2003 GTX SC speed ?

hi guys I am totally new in the hobby.

today i went for my first ride with my ski. i noticed that there is no water or oil gauge to keep track of them.
1)how do I know when the engine is warm enough for hitting full throttle ?

    2) If one is not so much interested in hitting full speed, what negative effects are there as far as the ski itself is concerned if not changing the wear ring ?

3)also what is the top speed for my machine so that I can check if the wear rings needs to be replaced ?

4)besides opening to full throttle is there some other way to check if the wear ring is ok ?

    5) what other things should I check / have in mind as a first time owner ?

6)also as far as tuning is concerned... one tunes his ski in order to achieve higher top speeds or are there other type of modifications as welll /?

    thx in advance !!!

Idle for several minutes and you will be good to go.

Riding with a bad wear ring would be the equivalent to riding a bike with a flat tire...why do it?

    61 - 63 mph on GPS...no dreamometer

Look through the pump and through the pump tunnel (under the ski) and look for "ring" marks in the ring made by the impeller while spinning. Cavitation will occure when giving throttle from idle.
    5) what other things should I check / have in mind as a first time owner ?
Look in the how-to section and search every thread! Supercharger washers, oil change and spark plug swaps are a first.

Most members on this forum modify for top speed, closed course, or drag-style riding. You can do simple mods to allow better basic performance...air intake, intake grate, supercharger maintenance.
    thx in advance !!!

a couple of more things to think about

1- in 03 the pump was a piece of Sh-t it is made of plastic and you will always have wear ring problems try to find a used 04 and up pump
2- in 03 the clutch is metal not ceramic but it still should be checked for slip
3- run it wide open your speed should be 61-63 and RPM`s 7500-7600

also can you tell from the pictures below if my wear ring is ok ?

1)as far as the spark plugs is concerned what swap are you talking about ? shouldn't i change them every season ? I just had them replaced for my winterization from a technician here in Greece. is that what you mean ?

2)FINALLY, if I am not going to use the ski for a month lets say, do I have to do something to the ski like winterization or there is no problem ?

Your pump is the plastic one.
As for the wear ring its hard to tell for the pic if its ok
But you can check if there is a space between the impeller and the wear ring bigger than 0,4-0,5mm then i think you sould chahge it

my speed was 64 mph on the dreamometer but I think i had higher rpm. i cannot really recall...

also the dreamometer must really be a dreamometer cause at 30 mph on the gauge it should be something like 22 !!!
