I put theaft end of the stub shaft in a vise and used a pipe wrench on my drive shaft to un screw the impeller. When you take the bearings out you will see there is a spacer between the forward and aft bearings. This is a critical component. Be sure you put it back when you reassemble. Hope this helps.

A pipe wrench on the driveshaft? Theres a impellor removal tool that you use to get it off. it goes in the splines and it has a nut on the end to wrench on to remove the impellor. Ebay sells them for 15.00 always available or maybe someone could borrow you thiers.

I'd highly suggest ordering the impeller tool. Overton's has it for $9.99. You're going to spend a whole lot more than that when you destroy your drive shaft.
