Lifting an SL 750 with an engine hoist??

I'm sure this has been asked a few times before, but I couldn't find a straight up answer. I am planning on painting my trailer, I have an engine hoist, will it be O.K. to lift the ski from the front and rear eyelets? Should I run straps under the ski? I don't really want to buy a harness from Ebay as this will probably be the only time I need to do this or if I do have to do it again, it won't be a lot, just once in a while.

    Thanks.

I would use straps under the hull, rather than putting stress on the bow eye and tow hook.

Or you can slide the hull off the trailer. Some guys build a stand from wood, or even PWC pipe. Others just carefully lift it onto the ground with a few friends.

I have even seen a PWC sitting on a set of stacked fork lift pallets.

Others have used a few car/truck tires (without the rims)

Put some old carpet down to protect the hull

An SL is around #480. You and 3 friends can pretty easily lift it.

"The boys" were kind enought to lift my SL out of my truck bed and onto the trailer. And then from the trailer up into the truck bed at the Polaris gathering. The 2 seaters aren't that bad.

If that's not an option, I would use straps under the hull. Just try to make sure they stay in place and don't slide on you.

I know it seems like alot of money for the harness, but if you get hooked on polaris skis like I did you will use that harness alot. I started cleaning and detailing my bosses and then his friends skis over the winter. I use my engine hoist and the harness alot, so I can get the lake gunk off there hulls and polish them. Just a thought. Its worth the money!

take a used sparkplug, smash out the porcelain and weld an eye hook on to the end of it, then screw it into the middle cylinder and attach your engine crane to that. They have special ones you can buy (not sure where) for pulling motors that are premade, or you can make one.

I've done it plenty of times with no problems, even on the big 3 seaters.

only thing I see that could cause a problem is if you had bad engine mounts you could bend the drive shaft, but if the engine moves when you start lifting then u know to stop..

oh on the 750 you can just wrap a chain around the cooling rail too

if you break the cooling rain (you won't) I have pisser adapters that replace it hahaha
