Wht is requied to replace pump bearings for a 93 Polaris sl750.

I am looking to replace the pump bearings in a 1993 SL 750.

    (1) Does anyone have a link to a free manual download. I found one on the search page, but the link doesn't work.

    (2) What tools do I require to replace the bearings? I am guessing I will need a impeller spline tool and torque wrench, but I would like to know if I will also have to press the bearings out and if I need any other special tools like a bearing press arbor. I know that with seadoo's you need the press arbor to press both bearings out at once, so the one bearing doesn't rotate and get stuck in the middle of the pump.

í95 SL 750, How to Do, a Jet Pump Bearing/Seal Replacement

Replacing the bearings and seals is pretty straightforward job if you have the proper tools.
After removing the pump assy from the ski, disassemble far enough to get the rear cone off. Put it in a vise, and using the special tool (about $10.00) remove the impeller, (cc/w).

You can now punch out the bearings and seals by using about a 6-8 inch long punch (using a good size hammer). There is ample room to move the spacer around, it seems easier to go through the middle of it vs. the side of it to drive them out.

Next de-grease and clean up the housing.

Put it in an oven for about 45 minutes set at 212 degrees F.

While this is heating, put the bearings in a freezer for about the same length of time.

Now it is ready to assemble. The bearings will almost slide in with hand pressure; you might have to nudge with a hammer/socket (pushing on the outer race). Donít forget to install the spacer.

When both bearings are in let it cool for a while. Insert the first forward seal (socket/hammer on out side edges of seal) pack marine grease in the cavity (between the seals) and install the next seal.

Installing the impeller requires the special tool and a torque wrench that go to 100 foot-pounds.

Assemble the rest with all new seals.

Total cost for this project was around $100.00(using all Polaris seals/bearings)

In 1992 and 1993 Polaris used a one piece jet pump (146mm impeller diameter).

1994 and newer Polaris PWC use a modular jet pump (148mm impeller).

Most of the information you will find around here is for the newer modular type 148mm jet pumps.

I don't know what the differences are for changing the bearings in the non-modular version of the pump

However, the newer modular design jet pump will fit into your 1993 hull. That means you have the option of upgrading to a good used 148mm jet pump.

The 148mm pump is more efficient, which means you will get more thrust from the same engine power.

If you can find one from a 1994 or 1995 SL650, then the jet pump and impeller should just bolt in.

A local guy knows I work on my own Seadoo's and wants to know if I will do his pump for the same prices as what a out of town shop will do it for. He said they quoted $120 for the repair including the cost of the parts. He did not however told me what they quoted for parts.

At $20 it's not worth it for me.

    Welcome to the Hulk.

Tell the guy to upgrade his old jet pump for a 94 and newer style. His performance will be boosted, and parts availability is more abundant.

He can get a newer pump for pretty cheap if he looks around.

[QUOTE=Seadooloco;1370340]I am looking to replace the pump bearings in a 1993 SL 750.

To open those files sometimes you have to save to a folder first. I created a folder in my documents file specifically for PDF files and save them to it. After the files are downloaded you can open the folder and view it anytime. To do this you first need to create the PDF folder in your documents file, then highlight the file you want to open and right click "save target as" and select your new PDF folder as the destination.
    Good luck
