I have run a strainer/filter from new on my stock intercooled RXT. During an "engine out " repair I pulled out the intercooler and cleaned the inside and out with diluted hydrochloric acid (pool acid from any pool shop). You would be surprised at how much crap comes out of and on the outside of the intercooler even with a strainer/filter. I plan to do this clean every 40 to 50 hours to maintain peak performance and efficiency of the intercooler. Hope this helps.

    Cheers

    Chris.
