    strange cylinder

    cylinder reboring, can some one tell me why you have to bolt the exhaust on. took 1 cylinder into be bored bolted to exhaust. and the guy looked as though id come from mars

    The exhaust manifold must be in place when REINSTALLING the cylinder. There are no guide pins on Polaris engines, therefore the manifold needs to be snugged up to the cylinder during torquing of the base nuts to make sure the cylinder is properly aligned with the manifold.

    You don't have to, I think what you are referring to is that when you assemble the engine, its a good idea to bolt the exhaust manifold on before you snug up the bolts.. then remove it and torque them the final bit.

    i mean the factory manual, (a warning) exhaust manifold to be bolted to cylinders when boring or honing. 1200 engines

    Wasn't there an issue with the 1200 manifolds distorting the cylinder bore when the manifold is bolted on?

    yep just checked manual. bolted and torqued to manifold before honing. the reson im asking why. im thinking of making thick plates to bolt on cyl. before sending to be honed

    I don't have a 1200 engine
