    Arrow !!--Im new and need Helpp Thanks

    Hello everyone im new to the forum and need some help i just bought a 2002 yamaha 1200gpr and i put it on the water today and was running good for like 5 min after that time it start like loosing power when i press the throttle all the way back wot and then turns off... i turned onn and stays idling good and i press the throttle like just a lil and works fine not passing 10mph but againg y press the throttle harder and same thing again it starts like choking up....... sorry for the long story..... a friend of mines told me that my carbs where dirty-- could this be the cause?????? thnks for the help the ski before i bought it was sittind down for like 7 months..

    Compression test first off
    carbs could be bad
    get that old gas out of it

    i am having the same problem woody is right do a compression test clean the carbs and open the power valve lids and make sure they are still there and clean out all the sludge. i went to todo this on mine yesterday and found out my engine swallowed a powervalve in the # 2 cylinder

    try pulling the seat off and look to see if there is oil in the bottom of the hull. these motors were famous for the oil lines coming off. also make sure there was water coming out of the pisser on the side of the ski.

    other than that those guys are right to start there.

    Thanks everryone i did my compression test i i gat piston #1--110psi #2---109psi0 and #3-- 98psi so supposed thats good im thinking about paying the $350 they are charging me to rebuild my carbs

    Def sounds like the carbs need cleaned or replace. Mine did the same last season.
