Moving to NE Ohio (Akron area) soon. Decent riding?
I'm looking for any info on the quality of riding in the NE Ohio region. As I continue to follow my job on a tour through the country, the next stop is Lordstown (probably live in Hudson/Akron area). I'm wondering if I will get any use at all out of my water toys. I have a 20' Taylor jet boat, RXPX, 951 X4, GSX-L/DI, 701 SN Super Jet, and a GPRXP just started.
My boss here (Louisiana) thinks I should sell everything, thinking all that stuff will be useless in NE Ohio. I'm not convinced, just yet. Can anyone who lives in that part of the country pitch in and tell me the truth about boating in this area? What is the length of the season? What are some good lakes (including Erie), rivers, etc?

well your not far from lake erie pluse lots of small lakes. keep your water toys for seasons if you can handle cold and have the right gear may to oct for lake erie. also in the morning and befor dusk erie always calms down and makes for nice endless high speed crusing.

Always a fun time around the bass islands. Plus if you like jumping waves, Erie has the reputation of putting out 9'+. I'm over in NW Ohio where I mostly ride the Maumee. Nice shallow river that warms up quick. Water temps should be up around 58 by Sunday with the warm weather we're having this week.

Thanks for the positive input. Makes me feel more like keeping the toys. i might trade something for a 4-wheeler, though!

Well I'm starting to get settled into my new Ohio digs. Getting the itch to explore the Maumee river upstream from Grand Rapids, OH. Anyone know what the water level is like? Hasn't been a lot of rain around here lately.

I guess there aren't that many folks riding in this area? Is there a better section to post this, there doesn't seem to be a "General Discussion" area for all brands.

The Ohio looks fine, but large like a lake. I'm looking for something more twisty like the Maumee to Tiffin rivers. The river looks deep enough due to the dam at Grand Rapids, but I'm concerned about how long that depth lasts as you go upstream.
