    951 Ignition Questions

    So, we are building a hybrid blaster for fun. Taking a 951 motor, COffman's exhaust, Miller head, NOVI 46s and putting it in a blaster hull. Thought it would be a nice play ski that runs on pump gas. We are about ready to drop the motor, but have no idea what to do for ignition. I have everything inside of the flywheel cover but would prefer not to use the Doo mpeg and elec box.

    Is there an option we should know about, will ignitions from other models work? I have heard you could use an 800 ignition with a MSD enhancer, anyone tried this?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Oh, forgot to mention, we don't want to run total loss and we definitely want it to be pump gas (93) friendly.

    if your talking 800 Doo electronics, yes with MSD ignition. BUT you will need the mag cup off an 800 motor. and you will need to set up the mag cup right to make it work...i learned the hard way.

    if your using a 98 motor, i think the cup's the same or works

    Yup, the '98 had only one magnet and the cup is turned off by one bolt hole from the '99+ (that is, the cup lines up in a different spot

    don't waste your time with total loss....just by an enhancer...

    you can put all the electronics you need in a seadoo grey box...solenoid,rectifier,msd, and coil.

    simple, reliable and gives u all the flexibility u need on pump gas.
