Should I buy or stay away from? Need advice...

Ok guys I need some advice. I am looking at buying 2003 Seadoo GTX Supercharged. The ski has 154 hours on it and the owner said the turbine and o-ring were replaced last year. He is only asking $3,000 for it and from what I can find that seems like a pretty good deal. Well the more we got to talking about it, he told me that there is a gash in the bottom of the hull. He said it is a couple inches long and about ¼ inch wide. He also said that it goes all the way through the fiberglass but not the foam. According to him it does not leak and could be repaired with a fiberglass repair kit. Does this seem like a pretty good deal or should I stay away from it because of the hull damage? I have never done any fiberglass work but it does not seem like it would be too hard. Thanks for any advice.

Let me first say that I know nothing about PWC but my opinion is that this is not a good deal. I wouldn't go for anything that had hull damage that extensive unless I knew exactly what I was doing mechanically.

I know markets differ, but I bought my '05 RXP with 47 hours on it for $4500.
