Which Air Filter Combo for 06 STX 12F?

Which would be better the Riva style that is basically the airfilter attached directly to the throttle body with prefilter or a Rouge Big air that has the inlet tube and the filter on the end of that? Any body have any experience with both?

    Here is the riva: http://www.rivayamaha.com/RivaStore/...20Filter%20Kit

I used a K&N filter with a precover and made my own intake tube for the filter. I think just buying the riva alone is a waste of money for what comes with it

Did you just use a piece of tubing bent at 90 degrees and find a K&N to fit the end? Do you remember what size tubing you used?

Is the tubing really necessary? Or does it smooth out the air flow before hitting the throttle body.

2.75" is the size tubing u will need. r&d has a cheaper set up that just clamps to the throttle body but u will need to purchase block offs and catch can filter.

I just went ahead and grabbed the Riva kit. I just need to get one of the filters for the catch can. Have you done the exhaust kit they have that bypasses the second muffler? Will it be very loud?

I replace the plugs and put some dielectric grease on all the connections...should have it on the water in two weeks (if Riva ships in a timely manner).

    Thanks for the suggestions!

    2.5 inch 180 degree u bend

if you can cancel the riva order do the filter in the intake in the bucket mod

the filter in bucket mod is where u cut a hole in the rear bucket that has the fire ext. and put the filter there. some people runs the back breather hoses to it to get fresh air to the filter. i just cut a bunch of holes in the rear of the bucket to get air to it. you would need a 90 degree silicone elbow coupler and a 90 degree piece of aluminum tubing to attach the filter to. 2.75" is what u would need. very cheap stuff off ebay! I havent installed the free exhaust yet. it is supose to be noticeably louder. more meaner sounding.
