    GP Yamaha Suspension Steering

Anyone ever tried Yamaha's Suspension Steering kit for the GP?

I just picked up a set on ebay. Couldnt find any info on it but it looked like it would fit. I have a UMI setup, but I may give this to my brother if it ends up fitting a GP.

Looks to be of similar design as the UMI. I think the stock plastic lower bushing is replaced by a billet clamp and there is an obvious suspension.

    Yamaha Part # MWV-G2T74-00-01

Never tried it; I think I saw that on ebay a while ago. I was thinking about it for my Raider, which isn't the smoothest ride, and so that should make it easier on the arms. I don't know if it'll do much performance wise, just make it more comfortable.

JUUUUUUUUUUUNK!!!!!!! makes it feel like your steering is loose and falling off. Not bad but still no in the surf jumping huge waves. It releaves the sore wrists.

i had that pogo stick steering on my gp1200 when i first got it and i hated it. works well for a few hours. then the bushings wear out and it does all kinds of scary things. put aftermarket bars on the stock stem, or go all out and get the umi.

    Wink

I have a set of Pro taper bars on my GP1200, they work well allowing just the right amount of flex.

    It's not that bad.
Have had it on a gp1200, and now have one on my Blaster project.
First mod to do to them is put a jubilee clip on the underside shaft (the one that goes up and down) to bring he spring in about 1/2" this really tightens them up, and stops them fully compressing and jamming when coming off big waves. When they fully compressed they can pop out of the bottom bracket.
