    Part out or fix?

    I just picked up a 96 SL780, the motor hydro-locked but the rest of the machine is decent. I'm wondering if I should put another motor in it or just part it out......any suggestions? I'm not against putting in a 750 if it will work, I'm just not sure of what motors/years are compatible. Thanks in advance for the help

    Welcome to the Hulk

    The 780 engine uses a different exhaust manifold that the 750. If you put a 750 motor in, you would need the exhaust too.

    The impeller would need to be changed to a 750 pitch version.

    Otherwise it should essentially bolt in.

    You might consider putting an SBT rebuild engine in it

    your losing 15 Hp if you swap engines.

    I don't care about the HP loss, I just want a second ski for a friend to ride. The 780 hull is in great shape, it just seems a shame to part it but it seems like I can get alot for the parts and just go buy a running machine.

    If it hydrolocked, the crank is hosed, but all else might be good. Use the 750 lower half and dress the 780 top half on it

    Then you will still have a 780

    I just found a SLT750 so this one because it's a 2up is going down the road. I'm gonna try to list it here too, let me know if anyone wants it or parts.
