    780 CDI Questions... Watcon? Beerdart?

    Hey,
My 780 CDI looks like frankenstien mixed with spaghetti . I was wondering about CDI's and my options for a 780 engine.

Right now I am planning on getting an aftermarket head that runs regular/premium gas, I just bought 785 Pro Pipes to convert onto my 780 engine, and I have stock carbs with tau ceti F.A.'s and wraps. Oil injection block-off kit, lightly ported jugs, unsure of bore size (it has been bored once or twice), extended pump, and it is all being cramed into a 750 hull.

I want a new CDI. End of Story. I want to eliminate the possibility that my electronics are flaw so I can focus on fine tuning my engine.

What can I do? I hear of people installing 785 pro ignitions on 780's. I see Watcons replacement CDI, but you need a stocker for that too. What do you suggest? I am almost positive that my CDI is not good...

    Thanks guys,
    -Gringo

You're going to have to use a PRO 785 CDI. That's the only CDI that will support a 8000 RPM rev limiter. Those pipes like to run around 7800 RPM.

How different? Like raising the port or like I need to pay professionals porting?

The 785 has a 3mm longer stroke crankshaft.
