Raider pipe on 65U engine
I know the 99 GP1200 has the same pipe as the 1100 Raider engine, what gains in power does this give ? Anyone done this ?

The Raider pipe is actually a little bit different than the 1200. They are both marked with "63M" but the 1200's are considered 65U. Mike Peavler should know more about this; he told me you get around 100 more RPM's with the 1100. If you are looking for an 1100 pipe let me know, I have a clean freshwater one in nice shape.

The 99 GP1200 has the same stinger core as the Raider did, the earlier models did not so you are fine if you have a 99.

I was told the Raider stinger section could cause some detno at 5k range with a heavy load from TJ when used with the 65U. That is also referenced by groupk as stating there are differences... and what's odd...is the part numbers are the same other then the first being 63M while the 97 shows 65U for the 97 and 98 I just bought another exhuast section...does anyone know if the 99's show 63M on them?

The stinger portion in question is an internal piece, the external housings are the same. if you look up the parts fiche you will find the 99 GP has the same number on the stinger insert as the raider, where as the 97-98 are different.

So if I just purchased the internal stinger section its would be the same ?

97 GP1200 65U-41121-00-94 INNER COVER, EXHAUST

So you really want to have the 1100 Raider exhaust?

Just got one off Ebay ! Mine is a 98 GP1200 , a mate of mine has a 99 GP1200 and we were looking at the changes Yamaha made from the 98 to 99 models.
Mine is has higher compression ,porting , Riva CDI mod 2 setting and bored carbs . Plus many other mods I have found to work over the years.
I have had Factory pipes on it sometime ago ,but went back to the stock pipe for reliability because I dont race it anymore . I will see how it performs !
