Thread: New House

Bought my first house yesterday
It needs well pretty much everything you can think of . Anyone know any decent home improvement sites out there. I have a lot of learning to do as I want to do whatever I can on my own.
Unfortunatly between the season being over and this new project it looks like the ski is taking a back seat for a while.

Even though I hate Home Depot, the ones up my way do have free workshops for all sorts of things. When I was going to tile my dining room and bathroom, I attended one and it saved me a lot of grief.

Congrats on the new house. Like anything else, the right tools will save mistakes and make things easier.
Try to use the best materials/products you can, so you won't end up having to re-do things in a few years.
What are your first few big projects going to be? I'm sure there are folks here that have been there, done that and could give some pointers.

Nick.... where's the house? I'm game, let's do it, lol.
I worked for a few construction companies, and my dad is a contractor, I happen to be good at this stuff and like doing it I wouldn't mind helpin you out on those rainy days or cold winter days that I'm bored as chit

I'll keep you posted Shibby it's in Oakdale right near the water unfortunatly not on the water but I within walking distance of by boat and Ski ..
First step is to get the bedroom ready to move in and have a place to crash then move on to the rest of the mess.
Then as soon as possible I want to build a garage!! Need a place to turn wrenches on the ski. It's a decent size piece of property at least for long island and it has nothing but a small house on it so it's a blank slate.

Nick, I would take shibby up on his offer right away. He can fit into those little crawl spaces and work in there. Then you can put him through the air conditioning ducts to clean them out.

Had a draftsman here today with Contractor. Wll be starting my nd story very soon. Kitchen , bathroom and a couple walls. Want to limit at 100g but know it`ll go over. Gotta do things when the wife isn`t around or plans `ll change 50 times and I`ll be WAY over budget.
