Exclamation $1,000 for 1985 Kawasaki 550 Stand Up Jet Ski?? Is it really worth it?

Does this sound like a reasonable purchase?

$1000 USD for a 1985 Kawasaki 550 Stand Up Jet Ski?

The seller sent me an email saying this:

This is a "CLASSIC" 1985 Kawasaki 550 Jet Ski (stand-up model). This ski is an all-stock model – nothing has been changed to any original parts. I added a clean-out connection which I use to wash out lake water before garaging. This also lets you run the Jet Ski when out of water for servicing unit. The paint is still the brilliant red color as it was when it was first purchased. This is because it is stored in an environmentally controlled building – it never has spent the night outside. The hull has normal beach scratches and the rubber padding has normal wear. Fresh-water ridden. It has a BRAND-NEW battery – no hours used. This Jet Ski is in running and working condition – no problems – ready to ride. NO TRAILER
    Here are some pictures:

Would you really purchase this for $1,000 USD???

    Thanks,
    Andrew Brown

    Link to pictures don't work.

Depending on what kind of shape it is in it might be worth it just for the condition it is in. You can normally find 550's for $4-500 and cheaper though. That is all up to what you are willing to pay for the condition it is in.

Wikipedia says it's a 530cc engine. About how fast do you guys think this would go on the water in "mph format (30, 40, 50 mph etc)"? Sorry I'm a noob and I don't know knots either.

    Thanks!!

lol well i have gps on my phone. i guess i can put it in a few zip lock baggies, tape up the ends and give it a go lol. A friend, who has a similar ski, says his goes about 45-50 but he only weighs about 130 lbs.
