so i have a exhaust leak in my 03 gp800r i think i found from where
so seems like my exhaust leak is coming from where the oil seals where... is this possible, these seals where at the bottom and i can put my fingers into where the bearing is on the shaft i think.
is it possible to have exhaust fumes come from the crank area,
how much work to replace these

I believe you need to split the cases to do the seals.
You need someone who knows how to do this well, if you have an air leak in the cases and you run the ski hard bad things will happen!!!

so i took a mirror and tried to take a gander into the are the seals go and couldn get a good look due to only having two hands.... i still am not sure if the seals are indeed popped out or if they were jsut left in the hull by the PO when they rebuilt the motor. what am i looking for exactly? its tough to see or get your hands in there cause of the piece that is in front of it.

could it have been left over replaced parts from the past? someone accidentally dropped it and couldn't find it and left it there?

no idea, i bought the ski from a guy. he said it had a new motor put in as well as carbs had receipts. all i know is that it smokes from that area, and that the seals where jsut chillin their by the drive shaft. the thing is that they look old not newer... no idea how the hell they would get so tweaked either. had to work on the car yesterday so couldnt check the ski out. still need someone to hold the flash flight while i look around.

so ya the seals are not their, the bearings are showing, and it smokes out the area where the seals once were.... my buddy is very mechanically inclined and i am considering letting him do it. what should he know aobut this before i give him the go ahead to do it. liek any special tools needed, once the motor is out can we just split the cases from the bottom and add the seals?
