How to replace hood latch?
Thanks to Xlint's Ebay eyes I found a new hood latch (Part #5) for my '94 SL750. The only problem is I can't figure out how to remove the pin (Part #1). Is there a special tool, or does anyone have a trick for removing the pin and installing the new latch?

That pin is a press fit, and no fun to press out. Awkward location to work on.
Take the hood off the ski. A machine shop should be able to do it in short order.

I have a friend that is a retired machinist with a TRUE killer set of tools. I'm sure he could find something that would tackle the problem.
Really, it doesn't look any different than a pin in a chain link. If I could just modify a chain link tool to fit around the latch, it should be able to press out that pin in short order. However, my friend might already have a tool like that.
