    Helmets for Recreational Use

I just found the Gath Helmet site:

Their helmets look very cool! Does anyone use these helmets for recreational use or are they just for racing. Which is there best helmet for rec use?

Also, what about the video camera that they attach? Does it do the job for the money?

Not race legal for sure. You need full face DOT of SNELL approved for racing. These look like what K38 water rescue use. The camera is an oregon scientific cam. They work well and are waterproof. I race with a few guys that use them for shooting footage of the races.

I wear a Gath for windsurfing, but it's not for riding the JetSki. It might be OK for recreational use.

I imagine you can't use it for racing because it's pretty light duty. If you were in the water and got hit by another 'Ski, it wouldn't do anything for you. However, if you just fall off your 'Ski and hit your head on the bars, it would probably help.
