    SBT pump liners

A rash of SBT SeaDoo pump liners are causing binding issues lately. If you have one of these, be careful. It could easily lock a prop in the plastic.

A very well respected member of this board, who doesn't want to seem biased about the problem has had about 10 cases of this in just the last month.

It just happened to me too, and that is how I found out about it. He's a shy little wall-flower, and didn't want to post.

    Buyer beware!

Put the SeaDoo stock liner in the pump this morning. Dropped in, and the prop made it's mark with not so much as a whimper out of the engine. All is right with the world again.

I don't know why I keep letting myself get suckered in by those cheap-ass bastards.

Something similar last year. I bought some plugs from them for the 4tec. They sent the ones without the removable tops. I called and they send send them back at MY cost and they would replace them... Uh, yeah, right. Did I learn anything? NooooOOOOooooOOOO.

I think I have about 3 pieces of their stuff around my shop.... that will be the last.

...and I think I'll start working on a pump alignment tool here locally, so that I can keep from having to tell someone to go to them for that too.

A friend of mine had one in an older 96 GTI. It appeared to of had a "bubble" in the material that let loose and caused the wear ring to fail.

Bought the supercharger tools from them last year. Ok except the spanner wrench is weak as hell. Almost useless.

    liner

I bought a liner on ebay and it was crap. Had binding issues real bad and it was a pain to get prop out of that liner! Maybe it was an SBT liner. I learn the lesson of "you get what you pay for" a few times a year and this was one of them.

    CRAP IN, CRAP OUT!!
It really pisses me off that they keep buying over seas, keep our money here!! Yeah, I know it would cost a little bit more and Pickering would have to give up a little fuel for his yacht..
