    I'm FURIOUS! Is this wrong or not?

    If you've read my story in another thread about what's been going on lately you'll know that I took my RXP to the shop because my supercharger crapped out. I sucked water through my intake so it's basically my fault. So when I took the RXP in I asked them if they would cover it under warranty since my ski has mods on it. They told me they would probably be able to cover it under warranty so I left if with them. I waited a couple of weeks...didn't hear from them so I figure they're covering it under warranty...and call them up to see how it's coming. It's ready to pick up, they fixed it, but they didn't cover it under warranty and now I have a bill of almost $800 to pay! WHY DIDN'T THEY CALL ME WHEN THEY DECIDED THAT THEY WOULDN'T COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY???? SOMEBODY JUST SHOOT ME IN THE HEAD AND GET IT OVER WITH!!!! Or tell me why it would be right for them to go ahead and fix it without calling me to tell me it's going to cost me $800.

    They should have asked for authorization once they found the problem and given a price to fix it.

    Talk to the Service Manager. Double dipping is common among scum.

    I'm picking it up tomorrow and I'm going to talk to them about it. I need a day to calm down though!

    Yes it's wrong. You should have been notified of the cost when they decided it would not be a warranty coverage.

    didn't you sign the standard "I require written estimate if repair exceeds ______ dollars"??? Or is that not applicable here?

    I can't remember if I signed something or not but I do remember the conversation we had...I should have told them to call me if it wasn't going to be covered under warranty...I was wrong to expect that they would have called me.

    It's a dealership. They make most of their margin off service and replacement parts. If they called you, you could have said no. Then they would be out $800.00.

    Pretty typical, I think.

    you're not liable for that charge. I wouldn't pay a dime of it. Don't take possession of it until you work this out...if you do you have accepted the charge
