    99 xl1200 impeller install

    Hey guys I have got a '99 xl1200 I have removed the chokes, the accelerator pump, rejetted the carbs, and added flame arrestors . I have gone to pre-mix, removed the cat, installed a d-plate and temp sensor chip. I have installed waveater couplers and clips. I plan on installing a new impeller and just wondered what else I should do to my toy while I have it apart. I want to seal my pump and replace the wear ring. Any other suggestions? Thanks! Oh p.s. I work at a machine shop so I was also thinking about milling my head, if I do how many thousandths do you guys take off when you do it?

    Nothing? Could somebody let me know how much I should mill the head?

    do you have an aftermarket grate? send your head to jim to get milled, i havent seen anything posted on hpw much to mill.... check out my signature, with a little tuning i should be upper 60's this summer...

    You can mill your own head just dont cut into the squish band thats why most send it to Jims performance so you get it done right its 80 bucks and Jim will get it done right tell him the comp you want.

    Thank you for the info. I do machine work on 4-stroke V8's every day just havent done any performance machine work on any 2 strokes yet. I just wanted a baseline I could start from. I want to do this work on my XL then install a new intake grate and ride plate so I can see what difference it makes in ride quality and acceleration.
