    1300 backfiring

    J have a 1300 non-pv with 150 psi head, air filter and d plate with riva ecu settings is 5516 and experiencing backfiring. i will start the ski on land give it about 3 revs and when i come off the throttle it will backfire out the exhaust. where should i start to solve this problem

    You can not rev a efi ski hard on land it is equipped with traction control and it will do that, You have to put it in the water and see if it does it if it still back fires in the water or lacks power probably burned a reed.

    if no load is seen on prop the fuel / spark is slightly cut to stop you over rev'in out of water or when unhooked...my buds 07 is a pile of crap while flushing on hose trying to get water out with a few soft blips to clear water box, but runs superb in the water...

    so how do you clear out the waterbox without it backfiring? good topic

    you feather the gas just don't nail it wide open.

    it's more of a safety, The old carbs GPR ski's use to break the front of the crank because when it became unhooked over a wave it would rev up high and once it would drop back in the water it would hook and drop the rpm's quick and there were lots of cranks that would snap by the flywheel.
    But with the efi ski they had that safety that if it would come unhook the rpm's would not go that high, I would call it more of a rpm control than a traction control.

    i remember reading that when i bought my 08, it sounded so ridiculous, as well as the whole off power steering assist thing (or whatever yami calls it), which basically if you need the ski to rev up a couple hundred rpms when you cut the bars with zero throttle (it's strange), then you definitely DO NOT belong riding a ski that fast.
