How do I get to the relay on a 1100 venture
How do I get to the starter relay on a 1100 venture without taking the ski apart?I been told just take the cover off the e-box but this damn thing is tight.I been told that the gas tank must come out and/or that the top of the ski must be taken off. What does the sevice manual say?Could someone who has experence with this PLEASE help me.

it can be done without removing the top cowl but it is a real pia
once you remove the 5 ebox cap screws you will need to remove the 3 cdi bolts
then you will have access to the relay
the relay shares a ground with about 3 other grounds so be sure to get them all hooked back up
for a 1st timer id say remove the upper cowl!

Ok so I took the upper cowl off and shorted the relay out and only got the motor to turn over about a quarter turn and the relay got really hot so now I'm thinking it's the starter or maybe just the starter drive (but the relay never clicked) but after looking and seeing thats it's going to be such a bitch to get at the starter I took the head off found all the cylinders look great, that way I would not be beating a dead horse if the engine was locked up.
So what is the best way to get at the starter?
