185 and 215 difference
Can you upgrade the 185 SC to the 215 HP SC/IC ? If so what would it take.

you change out the gear on the shaft to a 215 gear (i believe 16 tooth).

Can you add the 215 IC to the 185? If so is that the only difference. I am thinking the ECU could be different.

there's a laundry list of differences between those motors, better off just getting a 215.
converting one is really involved, but a few members here have done it.

You'll get much better accelleration and thats it. The 185 has a RPM limit of 7650, your stuck there unless you change the ECU, $$$$.
The SC gear ratio IS different than a 215, so it does not turn as high rpms internally. Requires pulling the motor out, getting into the motor and changing a gear, and changing the gear on the SC shaft. Can you do this yourself?? The pistons are cast not forged, another reason for the 7650 rpm limit.
So bottom line, add a Fizzle type external IC, 4" kana intake, and some minor mods and you done, or else spend tons of money modding it. Want lots of info, see JPConsults 185 Build thread - he did it for personal reasons!
Better option just trade it in on a 2010 X 260!!
