Exclamation DANGER!! Removing oil pump in FI 1300r

Is it good or bad to remove a oil pump out of a Fuel Injected 1300r?

I just spoke to a technician at SBT and he said "you can not remove an oil pump from a fuel injected 1300r. The oil clogs the fuel injectors and starves the motor which heats up until a piston and ring blows."

I have heard of piston and rings going in a very low hour fuel injected ski which was converted to pre mix.

Is pre mixing on a fuel injected ski a dangerous mix?

You know, i was going to ask this question next time someone said something about converting on an efi. i always thought oil does not do well in fuel injectors. I work at a machine shop and we test/clean/balance injectors and the chemical we use specifically states (do not contaminate with oil)

to muddy the waters a bit

all diesel engines are injected..and isn't diesel fuel an oil?

Now one might argue that mixing gas with oil will casue an engine to run lean, since the oil is displacing the actual amount of fuel, and the injection system isn't going to know the difference, so I'll second the motion for a poll, even when I'm often heard telling customers, if you take out your injection pump, you're one brain fart ( forgetting you need premix, or having a buddy do you a favor and top up your tank with straight gas when you aren't looking) away from blowing your motor.

well i just got off the phone with my local yamaha dealer (Libbys) and the tech there said he wouldnt recommend it. He also said the injectors can and do get clogged from the oil. Basically he stated in the FI models theres no need to remove the oil pump and he has only seen one pump fail in 30 years.

2.25 hours of labor to reinstall at $85 an hour.

If you would just do a search, you would find out this topic has been covered many, many times.

My customers have logged hundreds of hours on several different EFI boats running pre-mix with out any problems

hell, I even dump my old 2 cycle fuel in my late model chevy truck and burn it w/o problems
