Newbie with an 02 virage 1200 txi problem

I just aquired 2 02 polaris skis, one 1200txi and an 800 i. Both have been sitting since '04. I cleaned the tank on the 1200 and had it running and idling fine but now it won't fire, it will crank but not fire. I recharged the battery, cleaned the brand new $15.00 plugs and the only way I get it to fire is with a shot of starter fluid and then it is only for a second or two. I am getting spark and fuel pressure is about 24 psi.
Any ideas? Thanks for any help, great sight.
    Mike

    Welcome to the Hulk

If you have spark and fuel pressure, then the injectors are not firing. That usually points to the EMM or the stator, and usually the EMM.

Confirm you have over 20 volts DC on the White/Red wires that feed the injectors while the engine is cranking.

All White/Red wires are connected, so you just need to find a splice connection to connect your multi-meter. Do not unplug any of the injectors - tap into the White/Red wiring elsewhere.

As a test, unplug the TPS at the rear end of the throttle bodies. See if the engine starts.

    Volt test

I had less than 10 volts on the red/white wire. EMM bad? if so where can I get one and about how much are they?
    Thanks for your help.

Check the stator coils, both ohms and AC voltage output, per the Technical thread.

Also remove and inspect the CPS sensor, which is on top of the flywheel housing. Look for any signs of debris or damage. Check the CPS coil resistance while you are in there.

If both the stator and the CPS seem good, then call DFI. They can tell you what the price is likely to be, if it can be repaired. Once they have received it and looked at it, they can confirm whether it can be repaired.

The alternative to EMM repair is to purchase a good used EMM, complete with matching injectors.

OR purchase just the good used EMM, and have a shop equipped with Polaris computer software transfer the injector configuration from the old to the replacement injector.

EMM are also available new, but will still need the injector data copied from the old EMM.

Could be water in your fuel

I had a very similar problem ib my virage I. It turned about to be water in the fuel. You should check your tank, when I cleaned mine out my ski started right up without starter fluid and runs great. Is it possible that you have the fuel lines reversed?

10 v on injector wires while cranking is Stator inspection / replacement time .
You may want to feed 24 v DC to the red/ white injector power wire with the feed wire disconnected at the capacitor so it doesnt feed to the emm .If it starts and runs rough change the stator even if it checks out OK

    Cheers
