    gpr 1200 trim system help!!!!!

My 2000 gpr1200 had been sitting since 2001 before I got it a few months ago. It wasn't running when I got it,but now it is. I took it out the other day and it topped out around 39mph (unless the speedometer is messed up) It didn't feel like it was going top speed. The trim system cable is locked up and stuck in neutral. Any advice on how to free it up would be appreciated. Thanks!!!!

you need to figure out which cable is frozen, start by disconnecting the main cable that goes back to the trim. Take it off at the pulley under the storage bucket up front, then see if the twist grip moves.

I removed my buddies GPR cable that had the same issue.

After removing the cable that wouldn't move, I lightly put one end in a vise (just to hold the end up) and kept squirting penetrating oil over the course of a few hours. Everytime I came back to squirt it a bit, I gave the other end a gentle tug with a vise grip.

Slowly but surely it worked free and saved him from buying the uber expensive cable at the dealership.

    Working flawless to this day.

Then you will narrow down where the issue is, in other words which cable is stuck and needs attention or replacement.

I was asking the proper way to try to free it up,without replacing the cable.

Unless my reply has some invisiable force field around it, do like I did before buying a new one. You might be able to save it still. Good luck.

Chris don't take it personally, I think he was referring to me. I didn't give him the answer he wanted, you know how it is.

On the GP 1200 - does the trim actually do anything ??
I've adjusted mine at every speed and I just dont see a difference, being new, I guess I could possibly be missing something, am I ?

Cable and nozzel is moving, so no problems there.....that I can tell!

    TIA!

Of couse it does. If you have the bow/nozzle adjusted up all the way, you should be popping/porpoising out of the water. If you have the bow down/nozzle down you should get on plane from start much easier than the nozzle up.
At full throttle you should be able to adjust the trim a little each way and be able to feel a difference in the ride. one way it will porpoise slightly, the other way will calm the ride down.
