    SHO S/C Duplex bearing

    Okay, got the bearing today.
However, the face of one end has slots machined into it.

I assume this should be the front towards the impeller???

    RD is closed on Fridays...

Verified: Grooved end goes towards the thrust plate (front).

They are just replacements for the OEM shaft bearing. Riva's shaft includes replacement bearings...not sure with the R&D shaft, but this duplex bearing from R&D looks beefier than what I got with the Riva shaft. R&D also sells a replacement thrust bearing kit.

    From R&D:
Stock Class and Modified closed course and endurance competition engines with superchargers set up and running higher boost pressures and higher rpm frequencies will eventually need bearing servicing. When the main bearings in the supercharger wear over time, the shaft to bearing tolerance or clearances will become loose and the risk of friction burning or galling the thrust bearing assembly can occur. Servicing the supercharger main bearings periodically or upgrading to R&D’s new “Duplex Bearing System” will extend the life of the superchargers thrust bearing significantly. When supercharger thrust bearing failures have occurred in the past, there has not been a repair option due to no replacement parts manufactured.
