Any ideas to quiet her down ?

    I have a new to me 2001 1200r -

I need to lower the overall sound level around the waterbox and out the hull ....Any idea's ? Currently ski has the Riva Free Flow exhuast kit. I realize the sound suppresion is removed but have read here in the threads where with the Free Flow the sound isnt that different. I am looking to lower it substansially. I would be willing to give up a little on the performance side.

I know most like it loud but it will be used for long trips and riding around with my young kids - this is the only thing they do not enjoy on the ski. It is when the RPM's are between 3000 and 5000 where a deafinging ring is heard. When I am on the throttle it is tolerable.

If your are using the metal free flow, change it out to PVC. There is a good thread in the "how to" forum on this.

I'd suggest you put the stock sound suppression stuff back on - the free is much louder than stock (it also slows you down - LOL) If you need one of the exhaust hoses I have a couple new ones for sale.

Yes, go to wal-mart and buy the red can of "spray-on" bed liner. This will deaden the sound to a deep, but quiet roar. Foolboggie gave me that tip a long time ago and it works well.

Behind the battery box, just spray it everywhere - don't discriminate. Go crazy with it.

Thanks for all the feeback. I will post a Wanted in the classifieds for the suppresion stuff and do the truck bed coating (cant hurt to do both).

I mentioned the Riva freeflow but it looks like the PVC free flow is what have after looking further.
