Hey sport. Just had to say that. I have painted both my knee pads and my rub rails. I don't have a better close up picture of them, but if you get up close and look at the knee pads they have tiny crakle lines in the paint. None of my friends have noticed, I just know that their there. Still worth saving two hundred to me. I prepped by cleaning with denatured alcohol, then sprayed with bulldog, which is a paint prep that is supposed to help paint adhere to plastic, and then just used a vinyl spray paint from Pep Boys. The rub rails came out really well. I used a vinyl paint with a texture called hammered metal, and it looks just like the name implies. Anyway, good luck.

i have on a few skis now
the best paint to use is tamiya polycarbonate paint
this is used to paint the insides of remote control car shells and is flexible with out cracking
you can bend, twist and squash the pads and the paint stays intact

Yep painted the pads, and all the silver trim on my X with spray paint made for plastics and also sprayed some clear coat on them as well. I forgot the brand of paint and clear but I will look later. My brother bought them both at Walmart. It's held up fine so far and looks great.

I used the polycarbonate paint, prepped with alcohol wipes, worked great.
