    Pro785 fuel float

I just took the 98 Pro785 limited out today, Boy what a ride, that ski seemes so much faster than the stock one,
I had a good hole shot, I could only get about 7995 RPM's out of her but it seemed fast enough, I was using the Highest Octane I could buy with some Octaine booster and the Amsoil Dominator premix to 40-1
The Piston Wash seemed pretty good, the Mag looked a little Rich but not much.
The only problem is that the fuel gauge was showing empty, so every time I was making a rpm run the MFD was blinking "FUEL"

I have been looking at some past post, should I just take the sending tube out at have a look, or look in the black box first? to make sure no wires or unhooked?

    thanks,

most cases , the float gets cracked and fills w/gas and sinks..
might have to test with ohm meter then go from there..

Where does the other end of that wire go?

What wires are still connected to the Black/Yellow terminal?

I have the fuel rod out of the tank, where is the float??
inside the rod, or on the edge?

This is the large aluminum section that stands in the tank?

The float is inside. The float has a magnet that triggers tiny relay switches as it floats up and down.

You can probably hear the float move in there when you tip the assembly upside down, then right side up.

I just talked to lugs and he said to take the little nut of the bottom and the black plastic piece comes off and the float slides out,

to dark now, I will go at it tommorrow,

Float part number is 2872860. It's apparently hard to get, but relatively cheap around 20 bucks maybe less. I changed mine on my SL900 and it worked beautifully. Be careful when tightening the single screw that holds the float in place - do not over-tighten it, you don't want that screw falling into the fuel system.
