    Virage TX reverse cable

I need a reverse cable for a 2000 Virage TX.
Curious if anyone has one before I drop $100
on a brand new one -- assuming availability!

Very tempted to just ditch the reverse...

While you are working on the reverse system, you might want to check the handle mechanism for binding. When lubed and working properly, the reverse handle can be moved with just a couple of fingers.

How to repair a stiff or jammed Reverse lever on Virage, MSX, Genesis

I will check that out, thanks. Why is a push/pull cable
actuated system so uber complex? Ugh. Mine doesn't
have any problems working, it's just corroding through.

The plastic material absorbs moisture over time and swells slightly, increasing friction in the handle.

I just repaired another one recently. It was working well enough, but I needed to remove the handle for another reason. When I got it apart, it too was binding. Relieved the tightness around the handle shaft, and now it works much better.

The mechanism is there to prevent the reverse bucket from dropping down, or moving up, on its own. The latch prevents the bucket from moving unless you pull on the handle. Going over waves and running at speed, you don't want the reverse bucket to suddenly shift

The older models used a different reverse handle latch method, which sometimes would break.

The Virage/Genesis/MSX manual reverse system doesn't require the rider to remember to release the latch. Just pull or push the handle, and it works.

Except for the binding issue, of course. Which we know how to fix
