    Lake George Rules/Regulations

Anyone ride here? ANy special permits needed? And more importantly, is the speed limit enforced?

its a real mess up there. a lot of people are confused on whats going on i think.

in ny you need to have completed boater safety course and have a certificate with you to prove it. your ski needs to be registered in your home state.

the only speed limit on the lake is by the town and it is enforced.

are jetskis allowed on the lake? i have no idea. i hear the answer is yes but not around the town but for me its not worth the hassle of finding out. i heard a long time ago they were band from the lake.

Just a thought. It is my understanding that while pwc's are allowed in LG, they certainly are not welcomed: speed restrictions, access limited, distance from shore, permits, the list goes on and on. So my question is this: Why would you want to spend your hard earned dollars in a place that does not like you or want you? Lake George is not a cheap date.

Great thoughts! I certainly agree with all of your comments. I didn't plan this trip nor am I paying for the room.
I was invited by friends and family to go there and crash for a few days, and was told to bring the ski up as they have boats.... The idea of fresh water ( clean fresh water) tempts me to just try it out anyways.

i am pretty sure you need to have any watercraft/ boats/ skis inspected for invasive species and get a sticker. no idea what teh cost it.

Its definitely a place id like to check out on a ski, but like most things in NY, they kill the fun with taxes and regulations.

watch out for the blue boats

they rent them to almost anybody..matter of fact I'd stay away from the south end of the lake entirely on a ski. Not even sure if skis are permitted. I was a regular at LG when I lived back east.

Rented a cabin up there on a regular basis, they rented pontoon boats too..so it was a regular fishing vacation for the wife and me.

It was a great place in the early 90's..no idea what's going on there these days

"All Vessels 18 Feet or Longer, or Any Vessel Mechanically Propelled by a Motor 10 h.p. or Greater, Must Register with the Lake George Park Commission and Display a Registration Decal."

    30.00 to ride...
