I wanted to see what effects the tabs and sponsons had on handling and speed.
For me stepped stock sponsons are a must, I was amazed how bad the boat handled when they were all the way up and for speed I really cant say how much they slowed me down because the boat porposed to much to get a good run.
R&D trim tabs (trued) are a must. They do not slow the boat down at all. I actually saw a slight speed increase. They also shin in the ruff water are too.
Just wanted to share my findings with others.
All readings were done with a garmin etrex gps.

Did you just sand those R&D tabs flat or have they been shortened? Good test.

Voodoo. The tabs on the table aren't trimmed. Great testing. This kind of testing is a big help to everyone. Do you have some stock metallic tabs you can test too? It would be cool to have a tab shootout.
Then test them all with one shim, then two and so on.
I might do this next time out with
OR I could send you some Riva uncut and stock shims and you could do the fullblown test????
Let me know.
This is good stuff!!!
