I would leave the ski stock till you put the r&d intake grate on first then add other things with the vx plate just bolt it up with no shims.

Bolt the plate on and go. That's what most guys including myself have done. You get some that choose to go out and play with shims but I didn't opt to. But like ZX said. Get the R&D grate. Don't even ride till you do.

Rivas probably won't be visible till end of the year. Grab the R&D. And as with their other grates Rivas MIGHT be better on glass. But the R&D will trump it in the hookup/chop area. They always do.

The Riva grates have been breaking get the r&d intake grate or get the stainless riva grate if it is out, dont get the regular aluminum riva intake grate they are the ones that break.

The VX plate does sit up high. Mine is on but I haven't tried it yet. I'll be taking it out this weekend for sure. Jim, who modded my VX plate, said that if it porpoises to shim the back of the plate. Hopefully I don't have to shim it.

jim i had the vx plate and i got the r&d ride plate it was like night and day, i did not had my vx plate shimed but i had a riva intake grate on my fzr and it broke the back two mounting bolts now i got the r&d intake grate and a couple of more mods and my ski is running 70.8 on gps, but get an intake grate my friend just got messed up real bad and his fzr, so really really get the intake grate, get the r&d plate it handles way better but if you are riding in lakes the vx plate might be better i just did not like the vx plate cause i thought the vx plate made the handling worse but thats my opinion

I would have gotten the R&D plate myself. But the good feedback on the VX plate far outweighed the R&D. Now I'm probably missing something there. But the vast majority of guys I've seen post like the VX.
