2001 Xlt 1200 starter problem
Ive got a friends 1200 here that would not start, not even a click. They told me it shut off on the water, restarted once then died, and then nothing.
I found that it had a bad starter relay and changed it out. Now the problem. While the relay works great for a test bump everytime I tried to do a compression test the starter would run on and even though you pulled the laynard it would not stop. I would have to undo the battery cable to stop it. I've pulled the box apart and thought maybe I had the fuse wire connected to the starter side of the relay but that was not the case. So has anyone seen anything like this before?
My next thought is maybe the switch itself is bad but I'm not convinced that I dont have another bad relay that just doesnt release.
I'm not used to the Yamahas so any help would be appreciated.
