Thread: gp1200 reeds

    gp1200 reeds

    i am doing a top end rebuilt. 125hrs on engine. is it worth replacing the reeds since i have easy access to remove the carbs. i dont know if they go bad or how to tell. thanks for any help.

    Reeds last hundreds of hours they should be good.Do a visual inspection if they look good your good to go.

    The old motor that blew out #3 left the reeds looking a lot dirty, oily, burnt, but not really kinda look, if that makes sense.
    They are still in good physical shape, can I just clean them up ( using what ? ) and will they still be good to re-use you think?

    From what I can tell the other 2 are good to go!

    Cant tell by the pic but if theres deposits on the reeds and reed stops thats not good.You would need to clean them.Im sure you can find one in the classifieds if you wanted to get a used one.

    so in other words - $56.40 for the starbux and $2.00 in shipping - WOW something aint right ! LOL

    Seriously, how much - If I can afford anything else right now, I'll take them if I do end up needing them for sure!

    There are a couple of 760 hulls on Ebay. Again, I am new but arent they the same as the 1200....

    thought you may wanna know!
