Have you checked the stator charging coil ohms (Yellow to Red/Purple)?
Short to ground from Yellow or Red/Purple stator wires?

Have you tried changing the LR voltage regulator module?

For a quick test, you can use almost any year/model Polaris LR module. Just connect Black/ground, Red/Purple, and Yellow wires. If the battery voltage jumps up to about 14 volts when the engine is running, then the stator is good.

let me know if i can pick one up locally for cheap, or maybe borrow to run the test?...

I can loan you an LR regulator, if the stator ohms are good.
