What paint to use on my ski. 2004 rxp green and black
Has anyone used regular car paint and clear coat or should I stick to gel coat. Please give me your opinions on this. Pete

car paint, the 2pak stuff
if its not metalic you shouldn't need clear but

I used this:
for my base coat, then a few coats of clear.
whatever you do, dont rattle-can it. . .

most all automotive clears specify that they are not intended for use below the bond line. If you don't leave your ski in the water for extended periods it will probably be OK, but personally I prefer to use single stage Imron on hulls, base coat/clear coat on hoods, etc.

Shot my boat with Imron single stage,,,no clear coat. Shines and Imron is very durable paint.

where do you guys pick up these auto/marine paints? got a GTX hood to hone my body work skills on and want to try my hand at painting...
