    Check your collar

Rebuilding genesis engine pto piston melt. new rebuilt crank, check collar for grooves, scratches. all the dirt, salt ,sand, water is only held back, by single crank seal. pto. on mine worn groove were seal lip seals, i think in future when replacing crank seals id change collar too for good sealing and piece of mind !!!!!

    5131195 Collar, Crankshaft (Item 21)

Compare the later year engines with yours - a double seal was used at the PTO end of the crank shaft.

There was a thread a while back discussing the differences between 1165cc (aka '1200') crank shafts. I don't recall whether the earlier engines can be fitted with the double seal

There is an extra circlip in the later engines, but it can be removed to use the crank in an earlier engine.

i ve looked at trying to fit extra seal. as a conversion, done lots of measuring. i think later cases may be 10mm longer!!!!! on pto end. my rebuilt crank has later circlip on main bearing if removed will fit older cases. if i find cheap, later cases with 2 seal ill upgrade
