    Angry sl 900 problems

    ok went and got my ski today everything was fine took her out to the lake ran pretty good wasnt really getting on it or anything took a turn and the ski died ok wtf tried to start it wouldnt do anything no power anywhere got some people to tow me back in pulled the seat ant the small ground that goes from the batery to the box whatever u call it with all the wires in it was melted well i went in a nd replaced all the wiring from the box back to the battery now she turns over but wont crank any ideas

    this kinda happened to me... on my sl1050

    i was riding then the red light flashed once then died on me.. lifted the seat and smoke came out..

    i had burnt a hole right threw the cdi box...

    did you look at the cdi too check for cracks?

    whats the part number on the cdi?

    you might need the updated ignition system.. they are known to go bad..

    i believe this is the original cdi...

    unbolt the cdi and look at the back and take a picture.. make sure there is know cracks in it.. ive seen pics of these cracked in the back..

    the back of it is red and i dont see any cracks anywhere

    Check/clean all the ground cables and connections. Especialy the batt cable at the engine.

    It sounds like the engine ground is bad/corroded, or the plastic cover over the battery is missing and the shell of the electrical box has shorted to the battery post. Or both.

    Remove and clean both ends of the battery negative cable.

    Make sure the plastic cover is in place over the battery.

    Check the wire bundle that runs from the electrical box to the front of the engine (magneto stator wires). Look for a melted or burned wire.

    Use a multi-meter to ohm check the stator.

    Polaris Domestic (red) engine

    Since you have an original ignition, be aware that there is an updated ignition available. New stator and CDI, more reliable. If you need to replace either stator or CDI, just install the update kit

    just out of curiosity is there anyone nearl longview/tyler texas that can help me out with this thing

    ok im gonna buy the updated ignition kit for this thing and hope that fixe my problem checked the block ground and it was clean still had factory grease on it i guess where is the best place for me to buy this kit for my ski
