    Noise (rattle) Up to WOT.

    04 GTX SC LMT.(185 H.P.)

As I run up the ski to WOT I hear a noise (rattle) from motor.
I replaced ceramics last August to steel.
Old ceramics were in one piece.
    Did oil/filter change before winter.

    Now...here is what I noticed.
Just a few very very small aluminum specks in filter.
    No ceramic fragments.

Question 1 .. Does the factory put a blue mark on the nut the holds down the SC impeller (blue lock tight)?(or was SC rebuilt earlier and rebuilder put blue locktite mark on SC impeller nut)
I am wondering if the ceramics went earlier and the orginal owner had them replaced with ceramics before steel came avaliable.
The reason I ask this question is that I am wondering if the noise I am hearing is the timing chain from ceramic fragments.
BTW ..when I had the SC done(steel) the clamps for the SC hoses where factory original.(untouched SC since new?)
Question 2 .. do i need to pull the motor to check timing chain(and oil pumps)

When I bought ski(32hrs) from original owner..he said no problems with ski since new.

    Cheers

    Bill

You can pull the valve cover and check the timing chain guides. Not real sure, but didn't they have flywheel bolt problem that year. Hope someone can help that knows more about the 04 SDs.

BTW The filter I mentioned was the one that was on the ski when I bought it.This is the filter I inspected. I now have new filter and oil(changed before winter).

    Cheers
