    Quick GP1200R cylinder honing question

I dropped an oil line and lost the front cylinder in an 02 GP1200R. I plan on buying a used cylinder to replace it. My question is this: Can I rehone the cylinder without recoating with nikasil? Or if the used cylinder still has good hash marks, should I even bother? What do you guys think about buying a used piston vs. new? Thanks in advance.

Thank you. I just found an older post from Oside Bill. He said that if the hash marks are still present, you can just clean it up with a scotch bright pad and be good to go.
