2002 polaris virage MFD problem
Need Help, While riding my polaris the display will blank out and the ski will go into a safe type mode that only allows a fast idle. I noticed some condensation at times behind the display. It will come back intermitently and run fine. Is there a way to fix this without buying a new MFD ??

Carburetor or fuel injected engine?
You can bypass the MFI display to confirm whether the display itself is causing the problem.
I suspect the MFI is falsely triggering an RPM limit condition in the engine (about 3500RPM max).
Multi-Function Display (MFD)
How to unplug the MFI and still allow the engine to crank, start, and run
If the MFI is causing trouble, or is just missing or unplugged, you can still crank, start, and run the engine using a bypass jumper

i had similar issues last summer with my 01 virage . i tried to take the mfi apart , but no luck , even left it out in the sun to try and dry up the condesation . i ended up getting a new one , but i had lots of replys from guys who had used ones for sale . MFI refers to multi function instrument....if i recall , where as MFD is multi function display . yours should be the MFI which controls a lot of the electrical on your virage
i was having issues with it running propperly , lots of bogging while driving , sometimes would start , sometimes not . k447 suggested i try jumping a couple connections where my mfi plugs in , and see how it ran , and sure enough , perfect .
if you do get it apart , let us know how it works out .
