    Welcome to the Hulk

Why did the hull have water in it?

    Did the engine ingest water?

Remove all spark plugs, open the throttle wide, and check cylinder compression.

Open the electrical box, and confirm that it is dry inside, with no corrosion.

Does the display have any visible water inside?
The MFI is supposed to be sealed watertight.

You can unplug and bypass the MFI display. Click below for details.

    Polaris Domestic (red) engine

    Multi-Function Display (MFD)

How to unplug the MFI and still allow the engine to crank, start, and run

Once you get the engine problem fixed, find the water leak.

Take it to the launch ramp, but leave it strapped to the trailer front and rear.

Back it down until the jet pump intake is well submerged. Leave the seat off.

Now you can run the engine as long as you need. You can even rev the engine. Make sure the tow vehicle is firmly braked, and the front of the hull is well restrained.

First watch for water with the engine off. If nothing appears, start the engine. Some leaks only occur when the engine is running.

Look carefully at the through-hull drive shaft fitting. On the Virage hull, also check the black plastic collar at the rear end of the through-hull. They sometimes work loose from the hull.

Hi, I'm no expert but I think when smoke comes back up the carb its a sign that the reed cage has a broken reed in.

    Did you check cylinder compression?
All spark plugs out, throttle held wide open.

Open the electrical box and check for moisture?

You may have damaged the intake reed valves on one or more cylinders.

To check the reeds, you will need to remove the throttle body assembly, and the intake manifolds, to get to the reeds.

It is also possible that the magneto stator housing has water inside. Remove the inspection cap on the top of the flywheel housing, and look for wetness. Run the motor. Any signs of water or mist coming from the flywheel?

depends on how much water got in there but i've seen the pressure of the water crack the reed cages, pull the intake and check them

Was this from the siphon hose or do you have an electric bilge? If its the electric bilge then you still have a leak somewhere.
