    95 sl 750 prob

Ok got everthing put back together on the drive line new fuel lines carbs cleaned went to put in the water started great but idles at 5700 rpm and when the throttle is pushed it will go up to around 6500 rpms but will never go below 5500 to 5700. So where do I start to solve this problem.

    Five thousand+ RPM?

Check that the throttle cable is installed properly.

Do the throttle plates fully close when the throttle lever is released? (engine not running)

Yes the throttle cable looks good and the flaps close all the way when throttle is released

This high revving is in the water, or on the trailer on dry land?

Did you set the carb adj screws to the manual?

Can you see fuel flowing in all 3 carbs?

Did you disturb/replace the gaskets on the intake manifold to carb or intake to reeds? (air leak possibly)

The high is on the land and the water runs the same. Did not mess with the fuel adjustments at all. I did not mess with the gaskets I did pull the carbs off the intake and did not replace the gaskets.

You need to check/adjust your carb adj screws to the book.

Also need to make sure your carbs are in sync. (open exactly the same amount at the same time)

    What do you mean?

The RPM in the water should be noticeably less than on the trailer.

Was the idle speed set screw changed?
Or the sync adjustments between the carbs?

When the throttle lever is released, are the carb throttle plates inside each carb actually closed all the way?

I didnt mess with any of the adjustment screws on the carbs Idle or any of them. I just pulled the carbs plates off cleaned them up and put them back together. The plates all move together and lokked to be closed all the way when up pull the trhottle all open up all the way. should I pull the jets out and clean them too then put them back to factory specs. Just dont know where to go.
